Warmth and performance is our guarantee

The OZtrail and Outer Limits sleeping bag range is constructed to ensure that wherever your destination and whatever the season you can select a sleeping bag that will keep you warm right through the night.

Our Insulations:
We only use 100% virgin, synthetic fill due to its performance advantage whether wet or dry. All fill is non-allergenic, provides uniform warmth, is washable and is long lasting. Our synthetic fills are engineered to combine the best characteristics of natural products with the benefits that only a synthetic product can give. The result is insulation excellence to create the perfect micro-climate in your sleeping bag.

Five types of fill offer the best possible weight for warmth available from hollow synthetic fibres. Using large dense twisted masses of extremely fine fibres they are able to trap millions of individual ‘air cells’ to create the warmth you need through the night.

EXOTHERM®
ExoTherm® is a dense, stable layer of ultra fine 100% polyester filament strands.
EXOTHERM® Ultra
ExoTherm® Ultra offers superior insulation with its hollow tubular fibres. The large surface area of the hollow fibres trap vital insulating air throughout the dense layer of ExoTherm® Ultra.
EXOTHERM® Extreme
ExoTherm® Extreme is a high quality hollow fibre that has had its surface area increased dramatically by two processes; firstly the fibres are crimped so they have a powerful lofting ability, secondly the fibres are twisted together in pairs offering even more surface area to trap warm air. The result is a high loft fill that captures a large volume of warm air and restricts its movement offering remarkable insulation.
MICROSMART®
The MicroSmart® fibre is made up of two extreme microfibre filaments. Both are finer than silk and less than 1 Denier in weight (1 Denier is the weight in grams that 9 kilometres of the fibre weighs). The MicroSmart® fill is a thin ultra-dense layer of these micro filaments, that traps air into micro-cells preventing heat loss due to convection and conduction and acts as a barrier to cold air penetrating. This microfibre technology allows for the most compact carry bag size for a given temperature rating.

Considerations for choosing and using a sleeping bag:

  • Women and cold sleepers should choose a bag that is 5 degrees warmer than the comfort rating for the area they are travelling to
  • Always insulate yourself from the ground properly, using a bonded mat or high density open cell foam
  • You sleep colder after consuming alcohol and warmer after a good meal
  • After a day of high physical activity you sleep colder than you normally would
  • Always choose a sleeping bag which is close to your actual body size
  • You lose 60% of your body’s heat from your neck and head, so ensure you choose a sleeping bag with a good hood, neck collar and draw cords
  • Never drape anything over your sleeping bag to increase the warmth, as this compresses the fibres and actually makes the sleeping bag less efficient (if cold, put on some more clothes!)
Camper sleeping bags of the same model can be zipped together when fully opened out.
Hooded sleeping bags can be zipped together when combining a LH and RH of the same model.
